Unaccompanied Immigrant Children are children that come to America without any parents or who were separated from their parents. This issue should be addressed because of how the unaccompanied children face challenges in legal immigration system and are held in detention centers that lack protection for the youth. When these detentions get hold of the children they are stuck in there for long periods of time. The more the detention centers hold the minors the more flooded it gets and more chaotic it is. These young children are traumatized because of how they are taken care of and it is inhumane. These children also need help in the legal system because they are new to the American system and need legal representation.
